Council seeks views on quarry road repairs before winter sets in

Radnor Town Council has opened a short consultation on repairs to the old quarry road, the single-track lane serving the smallholdings above the town that has deteriorated sharply over the past two winters.

The council is proposing a phased fix rather than a full resurfacing, arguing the budget will not stretch to doing the whole lane at once.

The choice on the table

Residents are being asked to say which stretches they consider most urgent, so limited funds can be aimed where they are needed most.

  • Patch the worst potholes near the cattle grid this autumn
  • Reinforce the verge where the lane has slipped toward the stream
  • Leave the upper section until next year’s budget

Some residents have already argued that patching will not survive another freeze and that the slipped verge should come first, whatever the cost. Comments can be sent to the parish clerk until the end of the month, and the council expects to agree a plan at its October meeting.
